Video, Photos: First Yahrtzeit of Rav Yitzchok Karpf zt”l Marked With Siyum Sefer Torah

rav-karpf[Video and photos below.] To mark the first yahrtzeit of Rav Yitzchok Karpf zt”l, a siyum Sefer Torah will take place today in Monsey, NY. Rav Karpf, a son-in-law of Rav Shraga Feivel Mendlowitz zt”l and a talmid of Rav Shlomo Heiman zt”l in Yeshiva Torah Vodaas, served as a maggid shiur in Yeshiva Torah Vodaas and in Mesivta Bais Shraga of Monsey.

Rav Karpf was renowned for his knowledge of Torah and his true ahavas haTorah. He lived a life devoid of gashmiyus and spent his nine decades on Earth dedicated to the service of the Ribono Shel Olam. His greatness in Torah was recognized when he was a young man and he was appointed as a maggid shiur in Yeshiva Torah Vodaas. Later, he went on to serve as the tenth grade maggid shiur in Mesifta Beth Shraga in Monsey, which is led by his brothers-in-law, Rav Sheya Shiff, a brother of Rav Yaakov Shiff, son-in-law of the Brisker Rov, and Rav Shmuel Mendlowitz, son of Rav Shraga Feivel.

Rav Karpf, who lived on Elyon Road in Monsey, did not have an easy life, yet he maintained a positive disposition and never wavered in his devotion to Torah and avodah. Rav Karpf had only one child, who suffered from Down’s Syndrome. He was predeceased by his first wife, and later remarried. Despite these and other trials and tribulations, Rav Karpf was a model of bitachon and emunah, demonstrating the supremacy of Torah and Torah living above all else.

Last night, a kesivas osiyos gathering was held at Coventry Shul in Lakewood. Following the writing of osiyos, divrei zikaron were delivered by Rav Aharon Dovid Willner, R”M at Mesivta Bais Shraga.

Today, the hakomas matzeivah took place at 10:30 a.m. the bais hakevaros on Brick Church Road in Monsey. At 11:45 a.m., the kesivas ha’osiyos of the Sefer Torah will take place at the home of Rebbetzin Karpf. The Sefer Torah will then be danced to Mesifta Beis Shraga, located at 28 Saddle River Road, and a seudah will be held for the yahrtzeit and the siyum Sefer Torah. Divrei zikaron will be given by Rav Eliyahu Brudny, R”M in the Mirrer Yeshiva in Brooklyn, and Rav Zelig Berkowitz, rov of Bais Medrash Mikdash Dovid of Monsey.
