Video, Photos: Hachtarah of Rav Eli Yagid as Rosh Yeshiva of Keren Hatorah


rav-eli-yagid[Video and photos below.] Last night, the formal hachtarah of Rav Eliyahu Yagid as rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Keren Hatorah took place at Yeshiva and Mesivta Keren HaTorah’s 13th Anniversary Dinner a Toras Aron Hall in Lakewood, NJ. Rav Elya Ber Wachtfogel, rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Zichron Moshe of South Fallsburg and rebbi muvhak of Rav Yagid, attended and spoke in honor of the occasion.

Rav Yagid was a renowned rosh chaburah and talmid chochom at Bais Medrash Govoah when he was named rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Keren Hatorah earlier this year. He has since served in that position and was formally installed last night.

Rav Aryeh Malkiel Kotler, rosh yeshiva of Beth Medrash Govoha, also spoke in honor of the occasion.

Rav Yagid was the pe’er hayeshiva for many years at Beth Medrash Govoha and has brought his tremendous yedios haTorah and depth of learning to his new position. His klorkeit and wide ranging knowledge of Torah, combined with his aidelkeit and warmth, have already had a profound impact on his talmidim.

Rav Yagid is a son of Rav Avrohom Yagid of Monsey, NJ, and a son-in-law of Rav Gershon Neuman, rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Zichron Leyma of Linden, NJ.

Yeshiva Keren Hatorah is led by its founder and rosh hayeshiva, Rav Mendel Rabinowitz, and his brother, Rav Moshe Rabinowitz, the yeshiva‘s noted menahel and rov of Bais Medrash Tiferes Shimon.

At last night’s dinner, Rabbi and Mrs. Yaakov Rajchenbach, noted askanim in the Chicago community, received the Grandparents of the Year Award. Rav and Rebbetzin Simcha Bunim Cohen, rov of Khal Ateres Yeshaya, accepted the Harbotzas Torah Award, and Mr. and Mrs. Tovia Freund received the Parents of the Year Award.
