A 36-year-old black man was shot to death today on New Utrecht Avenue at 46th Street in the heart of Boro Park.

At 12:20 p.m., the man was shot several times while operating his vehicle across from BP Lumber.

Two black males fled the scene on foot towards 8th Avenue. The NYPD is looking for the two men, one of whom was wearing a purple tee-shirt and one a black tee-shirt. Police are also looking for a 2015 red Nissan Rogue, with plate number GYU9536.

The man who was shot was seated in the driver’s seat of a gold van that belonged to WIN Inc., the nonprofit Women in Need, which provides rides to homeless women and their families in New York City.

There were bullet holes in the driver’s side door of the van, evidence of shots fired.

Upon being hit, the victim’s van slammed into another vehicle, a minivan operated by a black woman, who was unhurt.

In addition to the NYPD, responding to the scene were the FDNY, EMS and Hatzolah, as well as an ambulance from the nearby Maimonides Medical Center. The victim was treated, but succumbed to his wounds. He was declared dead at Maimonides Medical Center.

Assemblyman Dov Hikind visited the scene, stating that a shooting in the otherwise tranquil neighborhood is very disturbing.

  1. Please remove the fact that the suspects were black. That is a very racist thing to say. You evil white Republicans are only trying to cause a racial divide.
