Talmidim of Rav Refoel Shmuel Yaakov Borenstein, rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Kiryas Melech, sponsored a seder limud as a zechus for a refuah shleimah for Rav Refoel Shmuel Yaakov ben Yehudis Tzivya on Erev Shabbos at the Bais Ahron Bais Medrash of Beth Medrash Govoah, located at Tenth Street and Madison Avenue in Lakewood, NJ.
Between the hours of 3 p.m. and 6 p.m., any yungerman who learned 1-1/2 hours received $100.
Divrei hisorurus were delivered by Rav Yitzchok Sorotzkin, rosh yeshiva of Yeshivas Telshe and Mesivta of Lakewood, and Tehillim was recited.
As reported on Friday, a name was added to Rav Borenstein, whose condition at Mayanei Hayeshuah Medical Center has worsened significantly. The name Refoel was added as a merit for the rosh yeshiva to experience rachamei Shomayim.
Rav Borenstein was taken to the hospital a week and a half ago and has since undergone a complicated medical procedure and been under the careful watch of a team of physicians.
Rav Borenstein is in the intensive care unit. Tests taken right after he was first hospitalized showed that the rosh yeshiva suffered a mild heart attack and was suffering from pneumonia. He has since experienced several complications as concern has grown regarding his condition.
Rav Borenstein, 70, is a member of the Moetzes Gedolei Hatorah of Degel Hatorah.
