Video: R’ Duvi Honig of New Learning and Networking Kollel Meets With Gedolei Eretz Yisroel

[Video below.] R’ Duvi Honig, the founder of Lakewood’s phenomenally successful Learning and Networking Kollel, is in Eretz Yisroel, where he has been meeting with askonim and where he has visited and received chizuk from gedolim for his recent undertakings.

R’ Duvi met with Rav Chaim Kanievsky, Rav Aharon Leib Shteinman, Rav Gershon Edelstein and others and explained the concept behind the kollel: to create a place where like-minded individuals can learn and network together. The Learn and Network program is designed to offer people in transition from one job to another a convenient place to find a chavrusah and network. People can connect with others looking to continue their career or start a new one, as well as with current and retired business people who will also join the learning program on occasion or on a regular basis and can provide experienced insight into job search and starting a business.

R’ Duvi, who has been working on setting up such programs in Eretz Yisroel, has been interviewed by the Israeli chareidi media. A video of one such interview can be seen below.

In Lakewood, the Learning and Networking Kollel meets each day at Bais Medrash Kol Yehudah, the Nusach Ashkenaz minyan of Brook Hill Estates, with men of all ages participating from 4 to 7 p.m. The first two hours are dedicated to learning bechaburah under the leadership of Rabbi Yaakov Tzvi Rubin. From 6 to 7 p.m., the participants network with each other and hone their business skills. A computer course is given once a week by a talmid chochom who retired after 25 years as computer manager at the New York Times.

Due to its success, the Monsey community will be home to its own Learn and Network Kollel in the beautiful new Bais Medrash Shaar Hashamayim building (Rabbi Viener’s shul), located at 71 East Willow Tree Road, across from Rochelle Lane, in Wesley Hills.

The Monsey program will offer many additional services to assist people in advancing their careers, such as help with résumé writing, interview training, job postings, and even loans for new businesses. Information on programs that are available through organizations such as EPI, PCS and others will be made available to participants, and representatives from those organizations will be available to help participants take advantage of the programs that can help them. There will be seminars from business people and professionals on a variety of topics to help job seekers gain a competitive edge, as well as to inform people of trends in the marketplace and provide insights into a variety of different fields worth exploring. In addition, the learning program will offer shiurim and speeches from Rabbi Viener and other noted rabbonim and speakers.  

The Monsey program will be starting with an inaugural expanded morning program next Thursday, 18 Kislev/November 25, beginning with Shacharis at 7:45, breakfast, a seder, a shiur from Rabbi Viener, time for networking, and Minchah at 12:30. Refreshments will be served. All are welcome to attend all or part of the program, whether one is looking for work and wants to check out the program and the location or one simply wishes to spend part of the day off from work in a positive way. On a regular basis, the Monsey Learn and Network program will start daily, Monday thru Thursday, at 9 a.m., with networking at 11 a.m. Refreshments and coffee will be available on a daily basis.
