rav-sorotzkin[Video below.] In the following video, Rav Yitzchok Sorotzkin, rosh yeshiva of Yeshivas Telshe and Mesivta of Lakewood, is seen addressing the Yom Iyun this past Sunday in Detroit, Michigan, at Yeshiva Gedolah Ateres Mordechai.

Rav Sorotzkin is seen relating a chakirah regarding the din of zeicher l’Mikdosh that he heard from Rav Leib Bakst zt”l, rosh yeshiva of Detroit, who discussed it with the Brisker Rov, Rav Yitzchok Zev Soloveitchik zt”l.

Rav Sorotzkin, a prolific author of seforim and phenomenal maggid shiur, is one of the leading Torah minds in America today, a brilliant talmid chochom whose days and nights are spent immersed in the Yam Hatalmud.

  1. He’s asking that the same way we don’t have a Mizbeach to go around with the Aravos so too by the Mitzva of Lulav we arn’t Lifnei Hashem..

    So Rav Yitzchok is answering that Lamdan, that in Lulav the verse “Lifnei Hashem” isn’t part of the act, nor part of the objects involved in the Mitzva, it’s just a condition to where it becomes a Mitzva D’oiraisa

  2. The ra’ayah that lifnei Hashem is not part of the ma’aseh mitzva is because on the first day, there is a mitzva even outside of the Mikdash. So we see that the shem netilas lulav is shayach even when not lifnei Hashem, as long as the lulav is nital.
