[Video below.] As reported last week, the Chicago community together with alumni of the Telshe Yeshiva of Chicago worldwide gathered for the long-awaited yovel dinner of Telshe Yeshiva, marking the yeshiva‘s 50th anniversary. The monumental celebration took place at the Hyatt Regency in Downtown Chicago and featured the venerable roshei yeshiva as distinguished honorees.
A half century ago, Rav Avrohom Chaim Levin and, lhbcl”c, Rav Chaim Schmelczer zt”l arrived in Chicago with twelve talmidim to found the fledgling yeshiva. One year later, they were joined by Rav Chaim Dov Keller. Five decades and thousands of talmidim later, the yeshiva celebrated this milestone with over a thousand attendees, including more than 200 alumni and guests from out of town.
At the dinner, the following tribute to Rav Chaim Schmelczer zt”l was shown. The film was directed by YZ Rechnitz.
