shwekey-razel[Video below.] Last night, Yaakov Shwekey performed at a special musical event, “From Caesaria to Manhattan,” held at The Beacon Theater in New York City. Shwekey sang a number of older songs, as well as melodies from his latest album, “Ad Bli Dai.” The event followed Shwekey’s successful August 2008 concert in Caesaria, Israel.

Last night’s concert also featured Yossi Green, Baruch Levine, Abie Rotenberg, Yonatan Razel and Acheinu, along with a 50-piece symphony orchestra conducted by Yochi Briskman, who produced the event. A portion of the proceeds of the evening went to the United Tzedaka Group, which represents 10 charity organizations.

In the following video from last night, Yaakov Shwekey is seen singing the hit song “Vehi She’amda” with the composer, Yonatan Razel.

  1. I was at the concert as well. There is no question, Yonathan Razel got the most rousing ovation from any of the performers – including Shwekey himself! His Carlbach “Esa Einiy” was also very good.
Lemaseh, Shwekey clearly has the best singing voice out there today! There is no one even close!

P.S. Baruch Levine also received a very rousing ovation.

  2. I’m not sure what nebech wants in comment three I think we all say vehiy sheamda in hebrew BUT I GUESS HIS POSTING NAME SAID IT ALL NEBECH IF HE SAYS IT IN ANY OTHER LANGUAGE and if he meant the accent Yonthan Razel is from Israel and thats the language they speak there
IF YOU HAVE NOTHING SMART TO SAY DON’T SAY IT

  3. nebech, you are so nebby.
What other language should he sing Vehe Sheamda in if not the language of the Haggadah and the tanach?
