hasan[Video below.] The motive behind today’s shooting by an army soldier which killed 12 people and wounded 31 in a rampage at Fort Hood is still unclear. Military officials said that the soldier attacked other troops at the Soldier Readiness Processing Center and the adjacent Howze Theater on the western part of the sprawling Central Texas post.

Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan was an army mental health professional. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison told Fox TV that Hasan was about to deploy to Iraq.

“I think there was some measure of being concerned or upset about that,” she said.

CBS News, quoting an anonymous source, reported that Hasan was a licensed psychiatrist in Bethesda, Md. and drug and rehab specialist who got his Virginia psychiatry license in 2005.

Federal law enforcement officials told the AP that Hasan had come to their attention at least six months ago because of Internet postings that discussed suicide bombings and other threats.

The officials say the postings appeared to have been made by Hasan, but are still trying to confirm that he was the author. They say an official investigation was not opened.

One of the Web postings that authorities reviewed is a blog that equates suicide bombers with a soldier throwing himself on a grenade to save the lives of his comrades.

“To say that this soldier committed suicide is inappropriate. Its more appropriate to say he is a brave hero that sacrificed his life for a more noble cause,” said the Internet posting. “Scholars have paralled (sic) this to suicide bombers whose intention, by sacrificing their lives, is to help save Muslims by killing enemy soldiers.”

Cone did not speculate about a motive, but the Army released a statement saying it did not believe the shootings were an act of political terrorism.

Very little official information about Malik Nidal Husan is known. It’s not even clear how exactly his name is spelled. News reports refer to him as Malik Nadal Husan, Malik Nidal Husan, Malik Nadal Hussan, Malik Nidal Hussan, Nidal Malik Husan, and Nidal Malik Hussan.

Virginia state medical licensing records list a Nidal Malik Hasan as a psychiatrist for the Army Medical Corps, with his primary practice at Darnall Army Medical Center at Fort Hood. The phone number listed for him in the Virginia records, which carried a Maryland area code, was unanswered.

According to the records, Hasan completed a residency in psychiatry at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. in 2007 and additional training in disaster and preventive psychiatry at Uniformed Services University Of the Health Sciences F. Edward Herbert School of Medicine, Bethesda, Md.. Advertisement:

Lt. Col. Chris Carver, Army spokesman at the Pentagon, said he didn’t know what the motive was for the shooting.

Maria Treviño, who works on the post at Carl R. Darnall Medical Center, said she was on the phone with a woman at the processing center when the shooting occurred. She said she heard screaming and gunshots before she hung up to get help.

“They just started screaming, `Don’t let him in, don’t let him in, they’re shooting at us,’.” she said. “I pray they didn’t get hurt. It was horrible. We’re still scared over here.”

Treviño said soon after the phone call she began to see bloodied victims stumble into the hospital. She said authorities have not let anyone who works at the hospital leave.

An online posting at 3:06 p.m. from a person who lives on Fort Hood stated she was “locked in my post housing. scared. dont know where the shooters are.” A few minutes later, the sender, whose MySpace page indicates she is the wife of a soldier, wrote, “All I hear are sirens telling us to stay indoors. can’t hear any gunfire. the PX is up the road from my house though.”

Terry Lee, a colonel in the U.S. Army with over twenty-three years of service in a FOX news interview claims he worked Major Malik Nadal Hasan and made very troubling statements many times in the past against America.

Col. Lee is alleging that Fort Hood primary shooter Major Malik Nadal Hasan said things such as “maybe the Muslims could stand up and fight against the aggressor” or thereabouts. This was in reference to Muslims overseas fighting against Americans, apparently.

  1. Such stupidity, is the world once again trying to figure out why Arabs act as ‘Para Adom’ (last week’s parsha)? There is an ongoing war against the Jews and Western civilization, particularly at the Armed forces of the US, the so called ‘infidels’?
