rubashkin-atzeres-tefillah-in-lakewood[Videos and photos below.] One could hear a pin drop last night at Bais Faiga Hall as the keynote speaker at an atzeres tefillah for Reb Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin shared his firsthand knowledge of the Rubashkin case and personal reflections about the man for whom all of Klal Yisroel is davening.

The speech delivered by Rav Pinchos Lipschutz, publisher of Yated Ne’eman, was punctuated with enlightening stories, personal anecdotes about Reb Sholom Mordechai, and details of the case, the trial and the “trumped up charges,” in Rav Lipschutz’s words.

The audience hung on to every syllable, as Rav Lipschutz, who traveled from his home in Monsey, NY, to address the gathering, powerfully shared an uplifting message of nosei be’ol, achdus, and emunah.

The event, held at Lakewood’s Bais Faiga Hall, began at 9:45 p.m. with a minyan for Maariv followed by divrei hisorerus from Rav Aryeh Malkiel Kotler, rosh yeshiva of Beth Medrash Govoha. Rav Lipschutz then delivered a 30-minute address that had the assemblage riveted.

The dais was graced by Rav Dovid Schustal, rosh yeshiva of Beth Medrash Govoha, who made a special effort to attend. The crowd of well over 1,000 people featured bnei Torah, baalei batim, as well as rabbonim, including Rav Shmuel Blech, rov of Khal Anshei Sefard, and Rav Dovid Trenk, rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Moreshes Yehoshua.

Following Rav Lipschutz’s remarks, the assemblage was led in the recital of Tehillim by Rav Moshe Shimon Luria, rov of Bais Medrash Ohr Yechezkel and menahel of Mesivta Torah Temimah of Lakewood.

The overflow crowd filled the entire back of the hall and spilled over to the adjacent portion of the hall which had initially been closed.

Over a hundred women participated in the chupah room of the hall, where they were able to listen to the entire program.

At the entrance to the ballroom, a table was set up where volunteers collected donations for the pidyon shvuyim fund that has been covering the exorbitant and continually increasing legal costs for the defense of Reb Sholom Mordechai.

The success of the gathering was thanks to a number of dedicated volunteers, including Rabbi Avi Motechin, Rabbi Yossi Tress and Rabbi Elli Bohm, all of whom devoted hours toward arranging the event and program. The hall was procured thanks to the graciousness of Rav Yosef Posen, director of Lakewood Cheder/Bais Faiga. Sound was provided efficiently by Rabbi Yehoshua Ausfresser. Last-minute banner design and printing was made possible by Rabbi Ari Berkowitz of The Lakewood Voice.

Following the program, a large number of people remained to speak to Rav Lipschutz about the ongoing ordeal facing Reb Sholom Mordechai and to pose questions to him regarding the case. Rav Lipschutz has spearheaded the effort to assist Reb Sholom Mordechai, to ensure that a solid defense team has been in place, and to help publicize the injustice and overhandedness by prosecutors in their handling of this case.

May Reb Sholom Mordechai ben Rivkah merit to see his personal yeshuah in the near future.

  1. if klal yisroel starts to gather together like one & yearns for something then our tefillos get answered until then H-shem waits for ALL of us to be ONE & call out to him for chairus (freedom) & geula

  2. What worries me is that this Judge is pushing down the the date in order to calm the momentum. She might be hoping that by stalling, less and less people will travel to the trial, and then she might cholila be able to throw her bombshell.
HKBH, please help me be wrong.
We need lots of rachmei shomayin. Keep davening. keep giving to the fund. They need every penny that we are giving.

  3. Anyone who was zoche to see the crowd of Bnai Torah surging in to the ballroom; to hear the heartfelt words of Rabbi Lipschutz; and participate in the moving recital of tehillim that was punctuated by the sobbing of the Rosh HaYeshiva Rav Dovid Schustal, will forever know what ACHDUS is all about.

Ashreichem Reb Pinny and all who have taught the world that the lines that divide us are nothing compared to that which unites us!
