The visit, on the first day of Chol Hamoed in Eretz Yisroel, was marked with the recital of Hallel, without a bracha, at the shul, which Rav Elyashiv had visited prior to its destruction by Jordan’s Arab Legion on May 25, 1948.

The renovation of the Churvah Shul took nearly a decade. Its formal dedication took place last month with a Hachnosas Sefer Torah.

The shul, which was first built in 1701, has been destroyed and rebuilt twice.

Upon Rav Elyashiv’s entrance into the shul, the large crowd broke out into song, singing “Yomim Al Yemei Melech Tosif.”

Rav Elyashiv subsequently paid a short visit to the Kosel as well.
