After an eight-year hiatus, Vizhnitz Bnei Brak reinstituted a Shabbos of chizuk for young married avreichim. The Shabbos is aimed to provide chizuk and direction for the avreichim, including guidance in hashkafah and chassidus. The Shabbos had not been held in recent years largely due to the failing health of the previous Rebbe, the Yeshuas Moshe zt”l.
At seudah shlishis, the Vizhnitzer Rebbe, Rav Yisroel Hager, delivered a powerful drasha, strongly condemning those who follow the latest fads and trends, specifically calling out those who wear styles of eyeglasses that are “unsuitable for a chassidishe yungerman.”
He spoke with great pain about the endless pursuit of some in following the latest bits of news from various spheres, calling on his listeners to curb the addiction to the constant barrage of news in our communities.
The Rebbe called on the avreichim to be mechazek in their learning and wished them a heartfelt bracha for success in all areas.

This message is very important because the outside influences are the first breach into assimilation.
Most people do not put attention to these seeming harmless and unimportant actions. May Hashem Help the Rebbe and klal Yisroel to keep guard on the first line of defense.

So Rabbi Goldstein, Baal Hashkafah Et Al – that would seem to include this website? Why is your consternation reserved for those with”moderne” eyeglasses but not for the purveyors and consumers of ridiculously petty bits of “news” in our community?
