washington-postWell, Washington does usually follow the trends in New York.

The Washington Post will start charging readers for access to its online edition next year, according to sources close to the situation. The paper will set up a metered paywall-similar to the one used by The New York Times, introducing digital subscriptions and charging readers once they pass a certain number of articles. The price of the print edition sold on newsstands is also likely to increase.

The New York Times paywall now has more than 600,000 digital subscribers and has caused no significant losses to casual readers or print subscribers. Read more at…well, yes, The Washington Post.
