Rav Ephraim Wachsman, rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Meor Yitzchok in Monsey, sang this song on Motzoei Shabbos during a visit to Florida.

The tune, Vezakeini, was originally composed by Rabbi Baruch Levine. This version features Rav Wachsman’s own lyrics.

  1. This is one of the most moving things I have ever heard in my life.
It was kedai for Matzav to be founded just to post this extraordinary video.
Rav Wachsman is a gaon and a gadol, and now we got to benefit from yet another aspect of his ability to inspire and be mechazeik people.

  2. I have the chills!! This is so beautiful and his singing and lyrics are obviously sooo heartfelt!! A real inspiration at a time when we can all use it! Thank you Matzav for posting!

  3. The song (music/melody) is Rabbi Baruch Levine’s great hit song ‘vezakeini’. As Rabbi Waxman sings it, the lyrics are different however. They are mostly English, as opposed to the holy words of לשון קודש used by Rabbi Levine in his classic.

  4. Truly amazing!
Anonymous, #3, you missed the point. Sorry for you!
R’ Baruch Levine’s classic is part of the teffila that women say at candle lighting. Rav Waxman turned his tune into amost meaningful and heartwarming message relating to both Chanukah and HaShem’s relationship with us, His children. Listen again, think, take it in and enjoy the message! It’s remarkable.

  5. Would it be possible to have the lyrics transcribed and posted here? It would most certainly be a tremendous zikui d’rabbim.
