It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the tragic passing of Eva Lou (Chava Leah) Chapman a”h, who was killed in a house fire in southwest Houston, according to the Houston Fire Department.
Eva Lou’s husband, Julius, was injured.
At about 7:45, firefighters were called to the Chapman home in the 9400 block of Greenwillow Street. They found Julius near the front of the house with burns and suffering from smoke inhalation. His name for davening is Yosef Chaim Alter ben Malkah.
Eva Lou was found near the back of the house.
The door was blocked and firefighters had a hard time pushing the door open. They had to carve a hole in the door to get in.
Eva Lou was in her 70s. The Chapmans have about 50 grandchildren and great grandchildren and were members of the United Orthodox Synagogue.
