  1. רבי רבי רבי איך וויל זיך מקשר זיין צו דיר

The lyrics to this song are based on the Tefillah
of the Breslover Chasidim who say before
    every Tefillah.
הריני מקשר את עצמי עם ר’ נחמן בן פיגא*

The Steipler zt”l said they don’t really
mean it when saying it, otherwise according
to the Nefesh Hachayim it would be considered
    Avodah Zarah Mamash.

  2. Is that some kind of Purim/Adar stunt, or what?

That is a big chutzpah to sing that particular song on the recording, which is a Breslover song, made for people going to Uman, for the Rosh Yeshiva, who is a shtarke Litvak. Just because the Rosh Yeshiva doesn’t know the background of the song (he is busy learning and doing other holy work, so he is not up to date on all the latest songs), doesn’t give license for them to be make fun of him like that. Especially now that he is shvach lately (Hashem should help him be well). To take advantage of an eltere Yid, a manhig Yisroel? Who gave them permission to engage in such bizyonos?

    וכדאי בזיון וקצף

    אני מוחה בזה בכל תוקף

הזמר צריך לבקש מחילה מראש הישיבה שליט”א

  3. FACT CHECK: This song actually comes from a Tefillah composed by Rav Aharon Roth, in Sefer Shomrei Emunim. Neither the words nor the song were originally created for Breslov. R’ Pomp, a chossid of Toldos Aharon composed it while at the tziyon of the Bnei Yissoschor and some of the people who heard it, while still in Ukraine, sang it in again in Uman. From there, it became famous among the Beslovers and Yehuda Green asked for permission to record it.

    • Thanks for the information.

Whether it is Breslov or Shomrei Emunim, it is not a song for a Litvishe Rosh Yeshiva. It doesn’t fit in with Telzer hashkofah.
