Tonight, Agudas Yisroel Bais Binyomin of Avenue L in Flatbush, Brooklyn, will be hosting an evening of chizuk and hisorerus for both men and women in honor of its new rov, Rav Moshe Tuvia Lieff, and his Rebbetzin. As reported first here on Matzav.com, back in February the kehillah officially announced that Rav Lieff would take over as morah d’asrah of the shul, which had been led until then by Rav Pinchos Breuer, who, after a decade as rov, moved to Eretz Yisroel.
The event will take place at Agudas Yisroel Bais Binyomin, located at the corner of Avenue L and Nostrand Avenue in Flatbush.
Tonight’s welcoming reception for the new morah d’asra will feature addresses by Rav Shmuel Kamenetsky, rosh yeshiva of the Philadelphia Yeshiva, and Rav Shlomo Mandel, rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva of Brooklyn.
The event will begin at 8 p.m. with light refreshments. The program will commence at 8:30 p.m. and will be followed by Maariv.
Rav Lieff served for many years as rov of Cong. Bais Yisroel in Minneapolis, Minnesota. His departure from the Minneapolis kehillah where he has served with such distinction has been felt by his mispallelim and admirers back home, as Rav Lieff inspired the community there for close to two decades. It was Rav Lieff – a close talmid of the Mirrer Rosh Yeshiva, Rav Shmuel Berenbaum zt”l, from whom he received Yoreh Yoreh Yadin Yadin semicha, as well as Rav Shlomo Zalman Auerbach zt”l – who secured seed-funding from Torah Umesorah, which eventually resulted in the founding of the Minneapolis Community Kollel, a jewel in the Minneapolis community. Rav Lieff, who spent nine years as a member of the Telshe Kollel in Cleveland, where he also served as the mesivta‘s eleventh grade maggid shiur, is responsible for transforming Minneapolis into a veritable Torah center.
A dynamic speaker and respected talmid chochom, Rav Lieff’s new position as morah d’asra of the Agudah of Avenue L has brought much excitement to the members of the shul, the Flatbush community, and the greater Northeast Torah community. Since moving to Brooklyn, Rav Lieff has already inspired numerous audiences in the Tri-State area with lectures and shiurim.
The Minneapolis community held a tzeischem leshalom event for Rav Lieff last month.

Hello #2, his first visit was after Pesach, so how do you figure that being a year already. The shul has been without a rav for quite awhile since Rabbi Breur left.
He has been in and out for a year. Yomim Tovim and major times he was in Minneapolis, his primary achrayus. He is now kavua in Brooklyn.
it was official from last February. he only moved last month.
