When a contingent of Orthodox Jews from Lakewood headed out to Houston this week, they did it the way these guys do a lot of things: in a humble, quiet manner.
I’d like to tell you that that’s the reason you haven’t heard about this, but we all know that’s not true. You haven’t heard about it because it’s not that interesting.
When the major New Jersey newspapers cover a story about Lakewood, they understand that the public would rather read about the dirt and dirty laundry that that community rarely has, as opposed to the charitable works and community service that is a better representation of that community.
I guess we should all be used to it by now.
After all, look at the mainstream media’s reporting of the Trump administration and its firm commitment to only one side of the story. So here I go, once again, revealing the other side: The true story.
Convoys of Lakewood residents from the Orthodox Jewish community made their way down to the Hurricane Harvey ravaged areas this week, trucks loaded with food, supplies and tools to assist in the relief effort.
There were emergency workers, builders, and just regular guys with a desire to help.
Many victims of Hurricane Harvey will benefit from this kind of altruism.
We humans, Jews, non Jews–human beings–are lucky these kind of people exist. And I’m happy to report it here. Other major New Jersey papers? Crickets.

Neither would mainstream media report on the Leftists deterring people and organizations form donating to Harvey relief efforts and forcing them to donate to their (the Leftist’s) causes.

Very nice but what about the financial assistance we in Lakewood contributed? I Know several people who wrote chai or $26 checks and that goes a long way in Texas. I now know the press dislikes us. Well rosh hashanu is upon us go we need these mitzvot.
As a general rule, if your efforts are not appreciated, stop doing your deed. Why waste time trying to please the goyim? It will never work. Same thing with the Israeli government. They bend over backwards to help the Palestinians murder more innocent Israelis, all to make the editorial board on the New York Times happy. Ridiculous.

Ironic you linked to 101.5 which doesn’t stop bashing Lakewood whenever they can.
I mean this in all seriousness and would like an actual answer- were the donations etc intended only for jewish residents in Texas? If yes, then you will have a hard time convincing the masses that this was truly a charitable deed. To them it looks like more of the same- Jews taking care of their own only, and not assisting indiscriminately.
