According to a report from Politico, the White House is temporarily banning spokespeople and surrogates from appearing on CNN shows after President Trump referred to the network as “fake news” during a recent press conference.

“We’re sending surrogates to places where we think it makes sense to promote our agenda,” an unnamed White House official is quoted saying. Administration officials are still answering questions from CNN reporters but officials like White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer and senior counselor Kellyanne Conway haven’t appeared on CNN shows in recent weeks. Despite the Obama administration’s stated animus towards Fox News, White House officials like Press Secretary Robert Gibbs and Senior Advisor David Axelrod appeared on Fox News Sunday in the first few weeks after President Obama’s 2009 inauguration.
