ben-gurionFlights and operations at Ben Gurion Airport were severely disrupted today when the Israel Airport Authority workers committee launched a wildcat strike.

According to some sources, the strike was called after employees made repeated demands for a solution to concerns they have about their pensions, and the corrections of pay distortions. The workers said they have received no response to their complaints.

The airport employees engaged in a strike last week for the same reasons for a short while, seriously disrupting operations. The Finance Ministry claimed that it would handle the issue and the airport employees went back to work.

With the Yomim Tovim coming up and no change in negotiations, the workers resumed their strike.

Many flights, including those of passengers going to Uman and elsewhere for Rosh Hashanah, have been delayed indefinitely.
