Paramedics who were called to the scene treated about 3 dozen people who were injured and subsequently evacuated them to the Tel Hashomer, Assaf Harofeh and Kaplan hospitals.
One man was moderately injured and the rest were lightly injured.
There several hundred people at the event. One eyewitness said that it was a miracle that more people weren’t injured by the massive lighting fixture.
The accident took place at a Henna event – a pre-wedding party for a kallah – at the Adia hall.
Two of the hall’s owners and the event manager were detained and taken in for questioning.
The tragedy occurred at about 12:30 a.m.
Large forces of police, MDA and Zaka personnel were dispatched to the scene on Shidlofsky Street.
In addition to the woman who was killed, a man about 30 years old was injured in the head.
Hundreds of people gathered inside and outside the hall, some relatives of those who were hurt, who came to check on the status of their relatives.
