Yahrtzeit of Minchas Elazar of Munkatch to be Marked this Shabbos

Munkatcher chasidim worldwide will mark the 73rd yahrtzeit of the Minchas Elazar of Munkatch zt”l this Shabbos, Parshas Bamidbar, the second day of Sivan. Every year since the passing of the Rebbe in 1937, Munkatcher chassidim and talmidim across the globe have joined together on the yahrtzeit in the many Munkatcher botei medrash to reminisce and learn the teachings of the Minchas Elazar. The main gathering takes place at the central Munkatcher Bais Medrash at 47th Street and 14th Avenue in Boro Park, Brooklyn, where hundreds of chassidim join for the annual Siyum Hashas and to hear divrei Torah from the current Munkatcher Rebbe.

This year, chassidim from all over the United States and Canada and elsewhere will join together in Boro Park to spend the entire Shabbos with the Rebbe. Among the many guests will be various Munkatcher rabbonim and roshei yeshiva, as well as elderly chassidim who merited to see the Minchas Elazar over seven decades ago.

Special groups of askanim have been working for the past few weeks to ensure that all guests will be accommodated. Locals have opened their homes to help facilitate the sleeping arrangements. All of the seudos Shabbos will be held in the bais medrash building. The Rebbe will join the guests for the Shabbos afternoon meal.
