chaimkeh-small“I cannot even describe the days when I was under house arrest; they made me feel like dirt,” said Yenti, the Meah Shearim mother who has been accused of starving her 3-year-old baby said yesterday.

Two weeks after she was arrested, the mother agreed to give a first interview to the media and tell her side of the story. The woman, five-month pregnant, is now back at her Meah Shearim home after the court ruled she should no longer be kept under house arrest.

Yenti is constantly surrounded by family. Her four children do not leave her side and her brothers are there to show support and help.

The only one missing is her three-year-old son, Chaimkeh (seen above), who is still hospitalized at a hospital to which he was transferred two days ago. The child’s doctors estimated that should his condition continue to improve, he would be discharged in the next few days.

Yenti is overjoyed to be with her children again. “I enjoy being able to take care of my children, feed them send, them to the nursery and feel them close to me,” she said to Yediot Achronot.

She rejected all the allegations against her, and denied ever starving or hurting her son. “They took a sick child and experimented on him; this is what brought him to this condition,” she claimed.

Her greatest hope is that he too will return home soon. “I truly hope that God will help me get back on track,” she concluded.

At the same time, in a strange turn of events, Dr. Yaakov Weill, who wrote the psychiatric evaluation of the mother, has ‘changed his mind’ and now says the woman does pose a threat to her children. Weill’s opinion, among other factors, contributed to the court’s decision to release her to house arrest with her children.

Following his meeting with the mother last week, Dr. Weill concluded she was not dangerous to her children. However, in a letter recently sent to the rabbonim who assisted Yenti during her arrest, the psychiatrist wrote that he wishes to recant on his earlier estimate that the mother “can continue carrying out her parental duties to her children without risk.”

“I did not have the sufficient tools to determine this,” Weill said in a letter to Rabbi Avraham Froelich, who hosted Yenti after she was remanded to house arrest.

“I wish to stress that I did not consider myself an expert witness appointed by the court, but was merely obliging you, the rabbonim, who asked me to examine her,” he added.

The State Prosecutor’s Office submitted Weill’s letter to the court as a “supplementary document to his evaluation.”

In a conversation with Ynet, Weill confirmed sending the letter, but refused to comment on its content.

  1. THIOS IS A BLOOD LIBEL./ DON’T BELIEVE WHAT YOU READ ON OTHER SITES WHICH JUST REPORINT OR TRANSLATE FROM THE HEBREW SECULAR MEDIA. AND NO MATTER WHAT WEILL SAYS. THIS WHOLE THING IS A SHAM. AND A COVERUP. AND THEY KNOW IT. THIS POOR WOMAN IS BEING RAILROADED.

  2. The court-appointed doctor gave the court someting not scripted in their coverup of medical experimentation at Hadassah so he has to recant or be in big trouble. For those who want to know the scope of the problem start reading on the web. Hadassa Ein Keren is in the drug experimentation business, with HUGE contracts with international drug companies. They do experiments that many countries would not do, hence, they are in demand. The “ethics” of what research should be done is not independent of them, since the person who supposedly monitors that is, yes, you guessed it, a Haddassa Ein Keren guy. Oh, and there is a partnership approach between Hadassa and the Israeli govt. (you can do a google search of Haddassa bio research, Hadassit, Jersualem bio research) and your hairs might stand on end when you realize the implications.

  3. Don’t forget, this is the Hadassah where doctors cut up dead patients, stole out hearts, kidneys, etc. to sell in chutz, sewed them back up, and in this condition returned the meis to the family for burial. Look at the pictures in the book Leutenant Birnbaum for some horrible nightmares.

  4. Living in Eretz Yisroel, I am horrified at the baseless attacks by commenters here against Hadassah Ein Kerem. Three of our children were born there, and the doctors and nurses were wonderful. Many of our chaverim have been treated there, and have always received the highest level of care. I am somewhat shocked to hear these attacks against hardworking doctors and nurses, and have a hard time understanding on what they are based.

  5. Interesting that Dr. Weill reconsidered. Can it be that he thinks that if any of the other children are harmed that he would be legally liable? He would certainly be morally liable.

It is not acceptable in psychiatric circles to do a serious diagnosis -especially if legal issues are involved – after only one interview.

  6. Michoel- – doesn’t mean, just because you your kids born there there aren’t issues there. Kings County had wonderful care, but let a woman die in their waiting room. Hadassa could give great care at times, but they are very messed up in doing research without any outside ethics committee

  7. I am sorry to say, but most of the “facts” posted here are complete hearsay. Just because people keep repeating them does not make them true.

  8. Michoel’s “fact” is complete hearsay. As someone VERY close to the family, I can attest to all the facts cited here. And BTW, Michoel, I, for one, am horrified at the baseless attacks by commenters here against Yenti and her family and all chareidim.
