rav-shmuel-simcha-horowitzYeshiva Emek Hatalmud, a popular Brooklyn-based makom Torah for bais medrash-age bochurim, will be reopening for the upcoming Elul zeman under the guidance of its rosh hayeshiva, Harav Shmuel Simcha Horowitz. The yeshiva had been led since its inception by Harav Horowitz and his brother-in-law, Harav Shmuel Abba Olshin. The yeshiva, which will now be led solely by Harav Horowitz, is in its twelfth year and is located on East 21st Street in Flatbush.

Harav Horowitz and Haran Olshin are sons-in-law of Harav Binyomin Paler zt”l, rosh hayeshiva of Yeshiva Mekor Chaim in Boro Park and one of the closest talmidim of the Brisker Rov, Harav Yitzchok Zev Soloveitchik zt”l. Harav Paler was born in Brisk and was a son of Harav Yitzchok Paler, a well respected talmid chochom in Brisk who descended from such Torah authorities as the Rama, Harav Moshe Isserles. Harav Binyomin Paler was a son-in-law of Harav Shmuel Ehrenfeld, the Mattesdorfer Rov.

  1. The rumor is that Rav Shmuel Abba will be opening a yeshiva in Lakewood.

Both Rav Shmuel Abba and Rav Horowitz are choshuveh talmidei chachomim. I wish them both hatzlacha.

Thanks for posting true newsworthy stories like this. Because when it all comes down, all that matters are the yeshivos and the torah that is learned, so a development in the opening or reopenign of a yeshiva is what truly matters. Learnign torah builds olamos, and we need to support our choshuveh roshei yeshiva liuke rav horowitz and rav shmuel abba.

rav Shmuel Abba, for those who don;t know, is a brother to Harav Yeruchom Olshin, rosh yeshiva in Lakewood’s BMG.

    Choshuveh menthen.

  2. It’s such choshiva Yeshiva it ready in it’s 12 short years produced Magidai Shiurim, My magid Shiur Rabbi Sruly Rosenbaum a tremendous Talmid Chachom, is a Talmid of Yeshiva Emek Hatalmud.

  3. I remeber Reb Sruly Rosenbaum from my days at Reb Tzvi Kaplan already then he was a tremendous Talmid Chachom, and we all knew something big would come out of him. I still remember him quoting his Rabbeim from Emek Hatalmud in learning all the time. It’s good to see that his talmidim realize how big Reb Sruly is, and are Macshiv him.

  4. I heard rabbi olshin is opening up in Elizibith N.J. i really wish them a lot of hatzlocha cuz i think they both deserve a chance to produce Chashuve Talmidim each with there own Meholich

  5. I heard Rabbi Arye Leiser is also opening a Yeshiva in Oceanside I wonder if Rabbi Horowitz will also reopen the Kollel, if YES from where will he raise the money?
