krasny-fire[Donate link below.] Four-year-old Yitzchok Isaac Krasny returned to his yeshiva, Yeshiva Karlin Stolin in Boro Park, yesterday, approximately five weeks after a devastating fire took the life of his brother Avigdor and wiped out his family’s apartment.

The Shemini Atzeres fire that claimed the life of 8-year-old Avigdor Krasny broke out as Rabbi and Mrs. Yaakov and Chana Krasny were in their sukkah on a second-floor porch of their apartment on Avenue P in Flatbush.

Reb Yaakov ran into the home to try to pull out his six children, and while he heroically ran into the burning home multiple times and rescued five of his children, he tragically couldn’t reach his son, Avigdor, who tried to escape the flames through a third-floor window.

“Yitzchok Isaac came back all ready to learn,” his teacher told Matzav.com. “He davened and participated in all activities. He was all excited to be back with his class.”

His father, Reb Yaakov Krasny, is a dedicated mispallel at Bais Yisroel Torah Center, Rav Avigdor Miller’s shul, which is now led by his grandson, Rav Eliyahu Brog. Reb Yaakov, a close talmid of Rav Miller, is a distinguished member of the kollel at the Mirrer Yeshiva in Flatbush.

Rav Mechel Rosenbaum along with his wife and 13 children lived on the first floor of the home they shared with the Krasnys. As a result of the extensive fire damage, the Rosenbaums have had to find temporary lodgings for their large family.

The Krasny family temporarily moved into the home of noted baalei chessed Rabbi and Mrs. Avrohom Kunstlinger in Flatbush.

Those wishing to participate in helping the families may make checks out to Keren Hatzalos Nefashos and mail them to:
