Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu met yesterday with the US Military’s US Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Martin Dempsey, on his sixth visit to the country.
“I want to take this opportunity to also express our respect and deep admiration for America’s fighting men and women,” Netanyahu said.
He also thanked the US armed forces, who regularly participate in joint exercises with the IDF, saying “We know we have no better friends than the American people, the American governments, the American fighting men and women.”
“You fight for America, but you also fight for freedom,” the Prime Minister stated.
In reply, the General paid tribute to the connection between the IDF and the US military, saying of the IDF, “I know you’re proud of them, but we are too.”
Dempsey has also held talks with his IDF counterpart Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Gadi Eizenkot, and Israeli President Reuven Rivlin.
