The National Council of Young Israel (NCYI) today announced the next program for its “Gabbai2Gabbai” initiative. As part of its continuing vision to inspire and enable synagogue leadership, the National Council of Young Israel has created “Gabbai2Gabbai,” a forum for professional development for the shul’s unsung heroes – the gabbaim.
The monthly conference call with gabbaim from across the United States addresses important issues and challenges that shul gabbaim face on a regular basis.
The Young Israel’s next Gabbai2Gabbai conference call will take place on Monday, June 2, 2014 at 9:15 PM ESDT. To participate, call 1-712-432-0927 and enter access code 772151#.
The call will feature Rabbi Shimon Silver, Mara D’Atra of the Young Israel of Greater Pittsburgh and the author of Halochoscope, who will present “Tachanun or No Tachanun through the Year.” Among the topics to be discussed will be Saying Tachanun after Shavuot, smachot, aveilut, life cycle events, and during the Jewish calendar.
Individuals that have questions for Rabbi Silver pertaining to “Tachanun” or “Chag Habikurim” can email them in advance of the call to firstname.lastname@example.org and Rabbi Silver will answer all questions presented to him.
Sponsorships are available for the next Gabbai2Gabbai call for $54 to honor a loved one, in commemoration of a yahrtzeit, or in honor of your shul. Email email@example.com for more information.
The call is open to gabbaim of all synagogues. For more information about the Gabbai2Gabbai initiative, contact Young Israel’s Director of Rabbinic Services Rabbi Binyamin Hammer at 212-929-1525 x104 or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
