young-israel-logoThe National Council of Young Israel (NCYI) lambasted a report issued today by the United Nations Human Rights Council regarding the military conflict in Gaza during the summer of 2014.

“With its latest scandalous and scurrilous report, the United Nations has once again shown its true colors by demonstrating a dangerous and distinct bias towards the State of Israel,” said NCYI President Farley Weiss. “With its fixation on rebuking Israel at every turn and the frequency with which it acts disproportionately to denigrate the Jewish State, any credibility and legitimacy that the U.N. may have once had in the international arena has completely evaporated. The United Nations’ reprehensible report is a blood libel on the State of Israel and the Jewish people.”

“As terrorists in Gaza worked overtime to launch deadly rocket attacks against Israel and attempted to murder as many Israeli civilians as they possibly could, Israel’s defense of those cowardly attacks should be praised, not scorned,” Weiss continued. “It is Israel that took the extraordinary step of warning Palestinian Arab civilians in Gaza to flee from harm’s way, while Hamas engaged in ruthless acts of terror intended to put innocent people at risk. The responsibility for any civilian casualties in Gaza lies squarely with the Hamas terrorists who deliberately launched their attacks on Israel from heavily populated civilian areas. For the U.N. to imply that Israel should not have fired back at the source of the deadly attacks aimed at killing its people and taken no action against those terrorists is absolutely preposterous.”

“We cannot remain silent while the United Nations issues yet another scathing indictment against the State of Israel,” Weiss said. “We have a moral responsibility to expose their fabrications and defamatory accusations and to defend the Jewish State against an international body that has inexplicably sought to delegitimize Israel for decades.”
