Kiplinger’s annual list highlights 300 public schools, private universities and private liberal arts colleges and ranks the top 100 in each category. The complete rankings will appear in Kiplinger’s February issue—on newsstands January 5. YU came in at number 32 on the private universities list.

YU and the other schools included in the 2016 lists represent the colleges that provide high-quality academics at a reasonable cost. The colleges exemplify the attributes parents and students look for in higher education, including a favorable student-faculty ratio, a good freshman retention rate and a high four-year graduation rate.

“We are proud to be ranked by Kiplinger’s as one of the best value colleges in North America,” said Rabbi Kenneth Brander, vice president for university and community life at YU. “Our faculty, deans, roshei yeshiva, guidance, advisement and student life professionals are committed to engaging with our students to ensure success in their academic, Torah and social experiences as undergraduates at Yeshiva University.”

Kiplinger assesses value by measurable standards of academic quality and affordability. Quality measures include the admission rate, the percentage of students who return for sophomore year, the student-faculty ratio and four-year graduation rate. Cost criteria include sticker price, financial aid and average debt at graduation.
