During the Rosh Hashanah davening, and during the tekios in particular, a yungerman, Rabbi Yosef Deutsch z”l, passed away. A member of the Tiferes Yerushalayim kehillah in Yerushalayim, he was only 24 years old.
The tragedy occurred at around 2:00 pm, when Reb Yosef collapsed in the middle of tekias shofar on the second day of Rosh Hashanah at the Bais Boruch shul on Rechov Chevrah Shas in the Meah Shearim neighborhood.
MDA personnel arrived at the scene, but Reb Yosef’s condition deteriorated and he was taken to Shaarei Tzedek Hospital, where doctors confirmed his petirah.
Reb Yosef was born in Yerushalayim, a son of Rav Chaim Yisroel Zev Deutsch, dayan with the Eidah Hachareidis.
Reb Yosef was said to be an outstanding ben Torah and avreich, who devoted his days to serious limud haTorah.
