rebbetzin-kanievskyToday, 17 Tishrei, is the first yahrtzeit of Rebbetzin Batsheva Kanievsky a”h, wife of Maran Rav Chaim Kanievsky shlit”a and oldest daughter of Maran Rav Yosef Shalom Elyashiv zt”l.

The Rebbetzin suffered a heart attack at about 3:30 Shabbos afternoon and passed away a short time later. The Rebbetzin was 79.

The Rebbetzin was renowned for making herself available to tens of thousands of women who converged on her home for her blessing and counsel. She was a truly remarkable women who touched thousands of lives, inspiring countless individuals in their avodas Hashem. Her passing left a void in the hearts of so many Yidden across the globe. Rebbetzin Kanievsky was one of most inspiring and amazing women of our generation.

The Rebbetzin was survived by her father, Rav Elyashiv, who was niftar earlier this year; her husband, Rav Chaim Kanievsky; her children, Rav Avrohom Yeshaya Kanievsky; Rav Shlomo Kanievsky, rosh yeshiva of Yeshivas Kiryas Melech; Rav Yitzchok Shaul Kanievsky; Rebbetzin Shteinman, wife of Rav Shraga Shteinman; Rebbetzin Tzivion, wife of Rav Yehoshua Tzivion; Rebbetzin Epstein, wife of Rav Dovid Epstein; Rebbetzin Kolodetzky, wife of Rav Yitzchok Kolodetzky; and Rebbetzin Braverman, wife of Rav Zelig Braverman.

She was also survived by dozens of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren following in her path.

During her lifetime, she experienced the passing of her sisters, Rebbetzin Zilberstein, Rebbetzin Berlin and Rebbetzin Auerbach, and her brother-in-law, Rav Yosef Yisroelson zt”l.

    ex. sign up to turn your cell phones off while davening. in her zchus.

    ex. stay till the last amen in shul in her zchus.

    ex. learn a few halachos of shmiras halashon with your spouse everyday. etc…

    & see how many people sign up to it in the zchus of a tzdaikes like her

  2. re anogggdf: If you read the book you’ll see numerous pictures also. I haven’t heard it spelled out this way but I’m assuming that there’s a difference between a subtle picture that you only see if you open something, as in the pictures in the book, and pictures blaringly, unavoidably noticeable, like a cover of the book picture, or had this been featured in the “today’s featured video” spot of the homepage.

    Following this logic there might be room to say that her picture shouldn’t be on the homepage but only available once you open the article, but I’m still not bothered by this picture.

  3. go and read her biography “The Rebbezin”.
    HaRav Kanievsky shlita gave his explicit permission to publish her picture because it serves as a good example for many women. So please stop writing nonsense!
