israel-cop-bittenPro-Palestinian activists posted a video on YouTube claiming to show Israeli soldiers “using excessive force” to arrest a Canadian activist, but in fact the video indicates the woman resisted arrest by kicking, screaming, refusing to stand, telling Israeli police to get off and biting at least one female cop.

Israeli authorities deported the pro-Palestinian activist who Israeli and Palestinian media identified as 26-year-old Sarah Ali, on Friday, two days after the incident. Israel National News reports that Ali is a Canadian citizen of Pakistani descent.

In the video, two female Israeli Border Police are seen walking her to an area separate from other foreign activists, including the one filming the video.

“I’m a Canadian citizen! Get —- off me!” Ali shouts hysterically, as she flails on the ground and refuses to stand.

At 1:20 in the video, a male police officer looks at his arm and asks, “Does she have rabies?”

Then, a female officer is heard in Hebrew shouting, “She bit me!”

As the police carry her up the stairs, another female officer is heard saying, “She bites!”

It took five officers to carry her presumably to the police station.

Neither the two minute clip nor reports in the Palestinian or Israeli media indicate why she was initially taken aside by the security forces.

The Palestinian news agency Ma’an writes that she was “forcibly arrested by Israeli forces while monitoring human rights abuses against Palestinians entering the Ibrahimi mosque in Hebron’s Old City.”

A group that calls itself “Youth Against Settlements” said she was “attacked by Israel police,” while Ma’an described the police as “using excessive force to detain Ali.” The Hamas military wing’s website Al Qassam writes that the “Israeli occupation authorities…violently” arrested her while she was “observing the Israeli military’s violations of human rights while inspecting queued citizens at the entrances to the Ibrahimi mosque.”

Israel National News reports, “Foreign anti-Israeli activists are a regular fixture in Arab violence against Israelis security forces and civilians in Judea and Samaria, though they are rarely deported.”
