Nielsen ratings suggest that Thursday’s GOP debate was the most watched in history, with 16 percent of U.S. households tuning in to the bonanza.

The best-performing Republican debates from the last presidential election cycle brought in about 5 percent of American households.

While Democratic primary debates in 2008 performed even better, those only topped 10 percent at the most. This marks an enormous rating boost for Fox News, which, on a normal night, garners about 1-2 percent of household audiences. Read more at CNN Money.
