Two women were struck down by cars as they stood on a roadside to observe Israel’s Holocaust memorial siren today in two separate locations.
The first woman, 41, was hit by a car after she pulled her own vehicle over on the eastbound lane on Route 44 between Yaffo and Ramle to observe the siren. Traffic Police suspect that the driver who hit her from behind did not spot the woman in time.
The woman was rushed to the Wolfson Medical Center in Cholon in moderate to serious condition.
Police are investigating the incident
Meanwhile, at the same time, a 65-year-old woman was struck by a car in Beer Sheva as she stood to observe the siren.
Police said the woman pulled over to a section of a road reserved for buses before being struck from behind. Paramedics evacuated her to the Soroka Medical Center in serious condition.
