2020 Ties 2016 As Hottest Yet, European Analysis Shows

Last year effectively tied 2016 as the hottest year on record, European climate researchers announced Friday, as global temperatures continued their relentless rise brought on by the emission of heat-trapping greenhouse gases.

The record warmth — which fueled deadly heat waves, droughts, intense wildfires and other environmental disasters around the world in 2020 — occurred despite the development in the second half of the year of La Niña, a global climate phenomenon marked by surface cooling across much of the equatorial Pacific Ocean.

And while 2020 may tie the record, all of the last six years are among the hottest ever, said Freja Vamborg, a senior scientist with the Copernicus Climate Change Service.

“It’s a reminder that temperatures are changing and will continue to change if we don’t cut greenhouse gas emissions,” Dr. Vamborg said.

  1. “Tied with 2016” – I thought it’s meant to be getting hotter and hotter each year?
And that’s despite that in 2020 the carbon emissions dropped by a tremendous amount compared to previous years. Huh, go figure.

“fueled [sic] deadly heat waves, droughts, intense wildfires and other environmental disasters” – The 0.1 degree average increase since last DECADE (their numbers, not mine) was not and could not be responsible for the wildfires, droughts etc.

ie. Climate change is a farce.

  2. Is this system faulty, that my comments so rarely get posted, or is it the moderators? I can only guess that it’s the former, as most of my comments are not controversial. Though the one I attempted to post here before might be regarded as so, I guess.

Anyone else also experience many of your comments on Matzav not getting posted?
