20th Yahrtzeit of Rav Dovid Lifshitz to Be Marked Today and Tomorrow

rav-dovid-lifshitzThe 20th Yahrtzeit of Rav Dovid Lifshitz zt’l, a preeminent Talmid of HaRav Shimon Shkop zt’l and HaRav Yeruchem Levovitz zt’l, will be marked this week on the Ninth of Tammuz (June 17).  Knownas the Suvalker Rav, HaRav Lifshitz served as Rosh Yeshiva in RIETS for nearly half a century, as well as President of Ezras Torah and a member of the Nesius of the Agudas HaRabbonim.

The Yahrtzeit will be marked in New York by two events:

1) An Azkara will be held today Sunday, June 16, at Yeshiva University Wilf Campus, in the Harry Fishel Beit Midrash/Zysman Hall, located at 2540 Amsterdam Ave., New York, NY.  A collation will be served at 9:00 AM, followed by the program at 9:30 AM featuring reflections from former Talmidim, including Rabbi Moshe Weinberger and Rabbi Benjamin Yudin.

2) A Yahrtzeit Siyum and Seudah will be held on the actual day of the Yahrtzeit, Monday, June 17, at Merkaz HaSimcha, located at 1898 Bay Avenue (Avenue M and E.19th St.), Brooklyn, NY.  Mincha will begin at 7:30 PM, followed at 8:00 PM by a Siyum Shas Mishnayos and Divrei Azkara by Rabbi Zevulun Charlop Shlita Dean Emeritus of RIETS and Rabbi of YI of Moshulu Parkway, and by Rabbi Yitzchok Cohen, Rosh Yeshiva of RIETS.  Suggested couvert $36.  Talmidim and friends interested in learning Mishnayos and/or attending the Yahrtzeit Siyum are requested to contact the Siyum organizers via email or phone:

  2. He was my Rebbe at Yeshivas Rabbeinu Yitzchok Elchonon, where he taught for many years. Both my son an I sere his Talmididim.

  3. My parents always spoke about the rebbe. They would tell me how wonderful he was. Sorry I never got to meet him.
