The men behind a viral 26:28 hour drive from Los Angeles to New York has admitted that it really was just an elaborate April Fools’ stunt. Alex Roy – the proud owner of a previous, legitimate driving record of 31 hours – admitted the lie on Thursday, in a blog post lamenting “the decline of journalism.”
Roy said yesterday he broke the record with a souped up car that had a second driver’s wheel and pedals (to let the passenger takeover seamlessly) and an underground network of off-duty cops helping the drivers zoom across the country without getting pulled over. Read more at The Truth About Cars.
