Hundreds of demonstrators clashed with police in Yerushalayim on Wednesday following the arrest of a Yeshiva student who failed to report for army service.

The demonstrators blocked traffic and interrupted light rail trains from running, causing the police to arrest 30 people involved in the public disorder.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s administration filed an application asking for another four months to enact the draft law. The government was granted a year to fix the bill, or all members of the ultra-Orthodox community would be subject to the draft when they turn 18 like the rest of Israel’s young Jewish citizens.

  1. “would be subject to the draft when they turn 18 like the rest of Israel’s young Jewish citizens.” Not true! About 50% or more secular Israelis are not drafted. It’s only chareidim they’re forcing.

Kol hakavod to the demonstrators. You make a big kiddush Hashem by refusing to lower yourself to joining the shmad army.

  2. so it’s only right to demonstrate because you feel that they are unfairly targeting charaidim??? sounds like your of the opinion that were it to be true that most secular serve then it would not be right for these demonstrations to take place?????

  3. Royal love of Netanyahu. Without a respect of Torah he is prime Pope faced man in a world he lets christians run.

The only grade you get as a jew is Hashems first question when you pass. Did you take time to learn Torah.

What future does jewish life have when we have an autonomous state casually run by men who invest nothing in mentioning Hashem?

We have an unlucky bible and unlucky heart.

  4. What a kiddush Hashem!
The entire Yerushalayim was made aware that a yeshiva bochur is in jail, and we can’t just continue with our daily routine.

    • The entire Yerushalayim was made aware that a yeshiva bochur is in jail to avoid joining a tamei army. A tremendous kiddush Hashem berabim!

  5. Yes, Yasher Koach to the protestors.

And the next time that terrorists break into a Yeshiva and start killing Jews (chas v’shalom), don’t call for the Police or the IDF. Rather, call for help from these zealous bochurim.

  6. Tremendous Kiddush Hashem indeed. Who knew that in our dor, we had such brave bochurim who are being moser nefesh and are willing to be ostracized by their community, face the brutality of Israel’s police, the foul smelling water cannons, etc, all to protest the Chilul Hashem that a yeshiva bochur is in jail for the crime of refusing to serve in the army!

    Really beautiful!
