Today marked the single deadliest day this year for foreign forces in Afghanistan, as five NATO troops died in a British helicopter crash. The cause of the helicopter crash is unknown and there were no reports of enemy activity in the area.
The nationalities of the dead could not be confirmed.
A Taliban spokesman claimed in a text message sent to journalists that insurgents shot down the aircraft, though they have falsely claimed responsibility for incidents before. Read more.
