On Thursday, a 60-year-old mother, born in 1956, gave birth to her first baby at Kaplan Hospital in Rechovot, Israel.

Dr. Yael Ne’eman, a specialist in gynecology and obstetric surgery at Kaplan, was treated the mother, who suffered from severe preeclampsia, which presented a real risk to the fetus and the mother. An emergency cesarean section was performed to stabilize the woman’s condition and to retrieve a healthy fetus.

The medical team present included two gynecologists, two pediatricians, a midwife and 3 nurses. The baby girl was safely extracted, born healthy and weighing 2.2 kg.

Mother and baby are still hospitalized and are said to be doing well.

Dr. Ilya Bar, a fertility specialist, related that the woman also suffered from a tumor, which was treated effectively, allowing a successful pregnancy and birth, despite the mother’s age.

Dr. Ne’eman, who delivered the baby with another specialist, Dr. Moshe Gillor, said that the preeclampsia meant “an increase in blood pressure, an increase in urinary protein, and problems with liver function and blood counts, endangering the mother and the fetus.”

The mother warmly thanked the medical staff in the operating room for saving the life of her baby, born after years of trying to have a child.

“The staff reassured me,” she said. “A nurse sat next to me throughout the surgery and spoke to me and wiped my face with a tissue. Everyone was smiling. It was the greatest happiness of my life when the team showed me my baby who I had been waiting for for so many years.”

  1. I wrote much more than that but Matzav being the corrupt PC website that they are, deleted it. Matzav is becoming a serious problem

    • while I never had a run in with the matzav and cannot say that they are corrupt… I will say that most of the “frum” websites are run by corrupt individuals. I happen to feel that the content on the matzav has a toradig feel and nice tochen more than any of the “frum” blogs/websites…. But then again, as long as I don’t know who is behind it I can’t confirm the level of character in the person running it…. It is upto the individual to feel ready to read these websites…

  2. I agree with Rochelle that the editors here edit way too much. Pls stop editing out opinion and our freedom of speech and limit the editing to nivul peh and likewise eisurim. Pls don’t be judge witness and jury. Just delete what blatantly needs to be deleted and isn’t subjective in nature.
