slurpees7-Eleven celebrated its “birthday” yesterday by handing out a free Slurpee to all customers.

For shomrei Shabbos, the convenience store chain added an extra day. This year, religious Jews lost out – because July 11, the day the chain celebrates, came out on Shabbos. In order to accommodate its many frum customers, the chain added an extra freebie day for those who patronize 7/11s under rabbinical supervision.

7Elevens in West Hempstead, Hewlett, Great Neck, Oakhurst, and College Park, MD, offered free small Slurpees today “in recognition of the local Jews not being able to take advantage of the promotion on the day before.”

The giveaway, which has occurred on July 11 since 2002, gives customers a small 12-ounce Slurpee at any North American location.

7-Eleven touts itself as the world’s first convenience store, opening the first of its more than 10,000 locations in the 1920s.

  1. I just bought for $$$ four slurpees at the Monsey store on Rt. 59 & College Rd. and paid dearly for them. They have franks that have a hechsher and Cholov Yisroel coffee – two separate sides – and most of their customers are Yidden. No freebies today at that store!!!
    Ow well!
