  1. How much more do we have to take? And please don’t start with the finger pointing. This is another terrible tragedy for Klal Yisrael & I cry for the child’s parents, family & friends.

  2. As G-d fearing jews, we know that nothing happens randomly and every occurrence is a message for us. We have a choice, to hear or not to hear. The wise person listens and hears.

  3. Baruch Dayan Haaemet! Such terrible tragedies are occuring lately – H’KBH is telling us to change our ways for the better, to do more chessed to all Yidden, not to talk loshen harah or during leining or davening, to be honest, reliable and trustworthy in our business, and every detail of our lives. May H’KBH grant much nechama to the dear family.,

A 4-year-old Brooklyn boy was struck and killed by a school bus this morning in front of his home after slipping on ice, police and witnesses said.

Amron Altman was fatally struck at 8:05 a.m. at 13th Avenue and 49th Street in Borough Park after he slipped on a patch of frozen snow and slid under one of the bus’ rear tires, police said.

“It’s a tragedy for all of us,” said Rabbi Bernard Freilich, a community activist in the largely Jewish neighborhood. “It’s every mother’s worst nightmare.”

Cops said the bus driver had circled the block once after he didn’t see the boy or his 13-year-old brother waiting at the curb.

Witnesses said Altman was run down by the Yeshiva school bus’ rear wheel after the driver had pulled up in front of the boy’s home a second time.

The driver, who appeared shaken after the accident, didn’t realize at first that he’d struck the child until witnesses made him aware of it.

The driver was not charged with any crime.

Paramedics tried in vain to revive the boy, who died a short time later.

  7. A 4-year-old boy slipped on the ice in Brooklyn and fell in front of a bus that hit and killed him, horrified witnesses said.

A small red-and-black backpack lay in the middle of the Borough Park street Wednesday – just a few feet from a white sheet that had been carefully placed over the tiny body.

Authorities identified the boy as Amron Altman, who died just a few feet from his home on 49th St.

“He was only a kid – it’s a crying shame,” said Rocco Botta, who was working at a construction project just a block from the 8 a.m. accident near 13th Ave.

“I heard a commotion and saw a small boy just lying on the road,” Botta, 55, said. “Someone had run him over.”

A witness who saw Amron’s body called 911, but a Hatzolah ambulance crew could not revive him, officials said.

Witnesses said they saw a yellow school bus leaving the scene moments before anyone noticed the mortally injured boy. It was not clear if the driver realized he had struck the child.

“The child was so small,” said Botta, who lives in the Bronx. “The person who hit him may have thought it was snow and just kept going.”

Police later found the bus nearby.

It was not immediately clear if Amron was trying to cross the slippery street in front of the bus or whether he had tried to get on the bus and then fell under its wheels, police said.

  8. Baruch Dayan Ha’emes. First of all I would like to express my condolences to the bereaving family. There are certainly no words that exist in our or any vernacular that can serve as a comfort and consolation for this family at this time.It is our job as Jews to lend a shoulder and an attentive ear so that the family could slowly unburden themselves with this most awful tragedy. Why people use this forum to lament how parents must learn to teach their children how to cross the street without getting hit is stupid!!!!!! For anyone to blame the parents especially at such a time for the premature death of their 4 year old child is insensitive and outright foolish. We only say Baruch Dayan Haemes because it was He who took the Neshama away from amongst us. Sadly, while it is part of the human condition to think that this could have prevented it is sadly not so. These forums could serve as a source of strength if thod commenting would think for a minute or two before saying whats on their mind. Hashem Nossan, V’Hashem Lakach Yehi Sjeim Hashem Mevorach Mei’attah v’ad olam. Bila Hamaves Lanetzach.

  9. Why wasn’t there an adult putting a 4 year old child on a bus, especially in this weather? Who lets a 4 year old get on a bus alone?

  10. Baruch Dayan emes, may the parents have a nechume and only hear simches.

I have mercy with the bus driver. was he a yid? nebech how is he feeling…????

  11. I see this alot in Boro Park. The moms wait at the door and lets their kids at any age run to the bus. Some parents don’t even wait at the door. Sometimes they are inside the house when their kids get picked up. I have never seen anything like it outside Boro Park. As far as shoveling snow….please don’t even go there. I have seen home owners in Boro Park throw pots of hot water on the snow to melt it rather than to shovel. then the melted snow turns to a sheet of ice. Unbelievable.

  12. I feel for the parents & family. Maybe this will teach others a lesson not to allow their children to run to the school bus alone. I have seen parent many times just waiting by the door and the children of all ages running to the bus. Some parents don’t even stay near the door. They just allow their kids to wait outside alone. And when they do walk the kids to the bus, they hold a 5 min conversation with the driver holding up 3 blocks of traffic. As for shoveling…don’t even go there. Some homeowners actually throw hot water over the snow thinking it’s the fastest way to shovel. Don’t they realize it freezes to a sheet of ice. Get a shovel and some salt. Have a little courtesy.

  13. I personally think that this is a great lesson for all the boropark parents out there who just leave their kids while they are getting on or off the school bus…Parents please please do not allow your child/children to go on the school bus by themself we do not want G-D FORBID another tragedy like this ever to happen again. One more thing do not spill hot water over a huge pile of snow thinking it will melt..,because it wont it will just make it worse and unsafe to walk on….. MAY THE FAMILY ONLY HEAR OF SIMCHAS THROUGHOUT THEIR LIFE…..AMEN
