It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the passing of R’ Beinish Mandel z”l of Flatbush after a battle with illness. He was just 59 years old.

A selfless baal chesed known for his heart of gold and nonstop giving, R’ Beinish was a longtime volunteer for Hatzolah of Flatbush, one of the early members of the heroic organization.

“He was an amud hachesed,” a Hatzolah volunteer told Matzav.com. “The man lived for everyone but himself. Some much of his chesed was hidden, performed away from the public eye.”

Beinish devoted his energies to Chai Lifeline’s Camp Simcha, where he served with devotion, treating the special campers there. Over the years, he accompanied numerous cholim on transports across the world, coupling his medical expertise and know-how with love, care, and concern.

Beinish’s wife was an equal partner in his chesed, opening their home to anyone in need of a kind word, a warm meal, an inspiring seudah, or medical assistance. The Mandel home has been one modeled after the chesed of Avrohom Avinu for which Klal Yisroel is known.

The passing of R’ Beinish brings to a close a life of legendary chesed and activism on behalf of the community and yechidim of Klal Yisroel. R’ Beinish is survived by his wife and their thirteen wonderful children.

The levaya will take place this morning, at 11 a.m., at Shomrei Hadas Chapels, located at 3803 14th Avenue in Brooklyn, NY. Kevurah details will be provided shortly.

  2. There are no words and not enough space on the internet to describe this giant. Thousands upon thousands of specific stories will pour out from all of Klal Yisroel, coming from the greatest of our Gedolay Yisroel who Beinish was so close to, to any and every other person he ever met. At the Levaya today when you looked around the room you saw genuine true sadness for EVERY person there truly felt that Beinish’s was his best friend and that nobody else really understood how close Beinish was with them.

Mrs. Mandel and her beautiful family are from the most special people one will ever know for they lived with this Chesed magnet and they saw him in action 24/7/365.

This is a crushing loss to all who knew him and to all of Klal Yisroel even if you didnt know him. Our world will never be the same.
