All parents want the best for their children – that they should be good and upright, that they have everything they need for a fruitful, joyous life. The classic work, Shelah HaKadosh, contains a tefillah that parents should recite for their children at any time of the year – but especially before Rosh Chodesh Sivan, which is tomorrow, for that is the month when Hakadosh Boruch Hu gave us the Torah, and when the Yidden began to be called His Children. This year, it is preferable to recite it today, Erev Rosh Chodesh Sivan.

As a public service, we offer the text of the tefillah for downloading.

  1. Actually Erev Rosh Chodesh Sivan is Shabbos. Tefillas Hashla MAY be recited on Shabbos. It is a good tefillah to say everyday too!

    • When Rosh Chodesh is Shabbos those who fast or say Yom Kipper Koton on Erev Rosh Chodesh push it back to Thursday. But as others have said you can say this teffila both times.

  2. In birchas Hatorah we say ונהיה אנחנו וצאצאנו וצאצאינו וצאצאי צאצאנו our children also say the Tefila which means children in grade school are already davening for their children and grandchildren every day. My son’s rebbi said the teffila with his class. Its never to early to start davening.

  3. I will bn be saying this on Shabbos
It’s a tefilla for ruchniyos the Shalah was well aware of when we’ve RC Sivan can fall out

  4. To Anonymos,

Say tefilloh for Yom Kipper Koton , on Yom Kipper Koton.
Tefillas HashLoh, on Erev Roish Choidesh Sivan.
Who decided it should be combined ?
