Actor Alec Baldwin fatally shot a cinematographer and wounded a director when he discharged a prop gun on a movie set in New Mexico Thursday, authorities said.

Baldwin shot Halyna Hutchins, the photography director of “Rust,” and Joel Souza, the film’s director, at the Bonanza Creek Ranch, a production location south of Santa Fe, according to the Santa Fe Sheriff’s Department.

Hutchins was transported by helicopter to the University of New Mexico Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Souza was taken by ambulance to Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical center to undergo treatment for his injuries. The severity of his injuries could not immediately be determined.

Baldwin, 63, is a co-producer of “Rust,” a Western movie set in 1880s Kansas, and plays the eponymous character who is an outlaw grandfather of a 13-year-old boy convicted of an accidental killing.

  1. Interesting headline.
He was shooting a movie, and shot a person, instead?
In any case, perhaps this will finally end his unremarkable performing career.

  2. Baldwin is a known lowlife for many years. His phone threats to his own daughter became public. He has a serious anger problem. Hollywood glorifies this piece of dirt. Oh yeh, he became a hero on SNL because he bashes Trump so beautifully. Anyone that makes fun of Trump is a hero. Liberals have no morals. God sends bad things thru bad people. Alec is an evil human being that’s why he was chosen as the messenger to murder someone else. Of course nothing will happen to this hateful liberal. He’s a hero in that world so he’s free to go.

  3. From stories that have been in the news over the years it seems that Alec Baldwin is a real jerk. What that has to do with this tragedy is beyond me.
