As reported extensively on Matzav.com and Matzav Status, a group of Orthodox Jewish passengers traveling from New York to Budapest via Frankfurt on Lufthansa were denied boarding after some passengers allegedly didn’t comply with Lufthansa’s mask rules. All Orthodox Jewish passengers on the connecting flight ended up being denied boarding. As a Lufthansa agent explained, “everyone has to pay for a couple.”

Lufthansa has now apologized.

Lufthansa issued a statement, apologizing for what happened with the above incident.

Here’s the statement from Lufthansa:

On May 4, a large number of booked passengers were denied boarding on their onward flight with LH 1334 from Frankfurt to Budapest. Lufthansa regrets the circumstances surrounding the decision to exclude the affected passengers from the flight, for which Lufthansa sincerely apologizes.

While Lufthansa is still reviewing the facts and circumstances of that day, we regret that the large group was denied boarding rather than limiting it to the non-compliant guests.

We apologize to all the passengers unable to travel on this flight, not only for the inconvenience, but also for the offense caused and personal impact.

Lufthansa and its employees stand behind the goal of connecting people and cultures worldwide. Diversity and equal opportunity are core values for our company and our corporate culture. What transpired is not consistent with Lufthansa’s policies or values. We have zero tolerance for racism, anti-Semitism and discrimination of any type.

We will be engaging with the affected passengers to better understand their concerns and openly discuss how we may improve our customer service.

    • Cant agree more. They are always, always looking for an opportunity to bash their fellow jews without ever having met them. They were never hurt by any of the people they purposely attacked. We should all say a perek tehillim and ask h-m to finally take away the hate from them.

  1. Aside from refunding the tickets and all other incurred expenses, which is similar to what the Germans have been doing since the 1950’s for other kinds of transportation, let’s see if the apology is sincere, by witnessing the airline’s future behavior.

  2. The young chassidim should keep on buying the Audis and BMWs. Auschwitz is a distant memory. These Germans are different than 80 years ago…
It’s repulsive seeing these chevra driving around in their Nazi-mobiles.

    • Right! And that’s why the Yashar couldn’t stand Emden (town) under German (HRE) total control, and went to Altona, under Danish sovereignty. When I was a kid it was dremmeled into us, a Yid does go to Spain or Germany, or buy or use their products. The few Zionists in our shtetl quit the Party when B.G. embraced Adenauer (almost while B-B ovens were still hot). These Yidn went through hell. Let it be a wake=up call.

  3. How about pleasure seeking Yidden stop running all over the world? We are in galus, you know? Where does it say in the Torah that we all must run to Orlando, Dubai, Morocco, Croatia, Meron, Bodrogkeresztúr, Punta Cana, Human, etc etc…???!

  4. Let us now have an admission from the passengers who set this whole thing into motion by not following rules.

    • The airline was modeh bemiktzas already, the passengers say thay were harassed when eating unlike other non jewish people, they say maybe there was someone that didnt follow rules. This is from people who were on this flight. Yet you weren’t on the flight but still fabricate facts, upon which you as a qualified judge side with the germans against your brethren.

Typical liberal. Blame the victims, side with the self proclaimed professionals. By WWII this method of appeasement didnt earn you the admiration of the germans, rather you would also have qualified for a train ticket and some cyclone gas, a bullet, or dying by hard labor.

Please post your name for tehillim.

  5. Ja, ja, oh, ja, ja.
Ve are truly sorry for targeting the Juden vonce again. Please understand that many of our vorkers are children and grandchildren of the Holocaust perpetrators, or recent arrivals from the Muslim lands, and childhood training and old habits die hard, if ever.
Dat said, ve hope that you have a pleasant flight, and thank you for flying Lufthansa.

  6. Money is the only talk that not cheap. If it hurts in the pocketbook it likely will not happen again so soon.

  7. At minimum, Refund the cost of their tickets and the other expenses incurred by your discriminatory actions. Maybe ask all other airlines to help pay for the mistakes of the one.

  8. This story is originally from Dan’s Deals. As per his follow up reporting, Lufthansa DOES NOT deserve credit for this sham of an apology. It looks good on the surface but upon a deeper read, is not an admission of guilt. Lufthansa seems to be hoping that this apology will be the ‘right’ public relations move, but for our sake, let’s keep calling them out and making sure our reporting accurately reflects their underhanded intentions until they truly address and rectify all their wrongs. Here’s a link to Dan’s response to this apology. https://www.dansdeals.com/points-travel/airlines/airline-news/lufthansas-apology-takes-things-bad-worse-9-things-remain-unaddressed-media-needs-get-story-right/

  9. Germans are germans stay germans. Anti semitism is a disease in their DNA.

They should never get away with an apology.

    • Only a blithering idiot would make such a stupid statement. There are some people who need to wear a mask for other reasons as well. My spleen was shattered and removed in an auto accident on Erev Chanukah a year and a half ago. My doctors recommend that I wear a face covering (ie. mask) for the rest of my life due to my vulnerability to viruses, bacteria, and all sorts of germs. It’s annoying when someone sees me and asks “You still wearing the mask?” and I have to explain my situation to them.

    • Only a blithering idiot would repeatedly ignore flight personnel’s instructions and make a scene, thereby making sure that non a single member of a large group would be allowed to proceed to their destination.

  10. mt: You seem well versed in Reb Yakov Emden’s sefarim, but you’re obviously clueless about what it says in the Chofetz Chaim’s sefarim… Chassidim are Jews too. Did you know that???

  11. Rest. Europe is getting back to being Europe. Jewish freedom is not joined often because the whole edge of Europe is grandiosity and frown for broken military.

Take America. We have no broken military and the vague turn is never family.

Yes, I think it is not a land where we learn lessons. [Europe] It is a land where some pay fines and others turn hands away from company. Moving times but fast crazy events. It is a bad begging rage to turn away kindness anywhere.
