The Prime Minister’s Office issues a formal statement confirming the cabinet’s decision early this morning to approve the first hostage deal of the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza.

“The commitment of the Israeli government remains steadfast in bringing all the abductees home. Tonight, the government endorsed the framework for the initial phase of achieving this objective, wherein a minimum of 50 abductees, including women and children, will be released over a four-day period, coinciding with a temporary cessation of hostilities,” declares the statement.

“With each release of an additional ten abductees, an extra day of respite will be observed,” it further outlines.

The statement underscores, “The Israeli government, the IDF, and the security forces will persist in the conflict to secure the return of all abductees, conclude the dismantling of Hamas, and ensure that Gaza poses no renewed threat to the State of Israel.”

Notably absent from the statement are specifics on other presumed concessions made by Israel, such as the release of Palestinian prisoners and the facilitation of additional fuel and humanitarian aid into Gaza.

  1. This stupidity was of course predictable, and actually was predicted by the more sane among us. Each day of cease-fire allows Hamas to rebuild enough to kill, maim, and kidnap way more than the hostages being released. Negotiations with terrorists is one-sided — everyone is watching Israel to make sure they keep their side of the “bargain”, but no one even expects Hamas to keep anything agreed to, and they therefore didn’t put anything in the agreement that would require Hamas to agree to anything.

12 hostages for a day of rebuilding terror infrastructure? And Israel releasing Palestinian prisoners on top of that? And Israel unable to even begin to monitor that the aid trucks are actually going for aid to civilians (whatever that might mean)? What kind of a stupid “deal” is that?

    I’m sick to my stomach…
