National Unity party leader Benny Gantz has urged that the recent attempted bus bombings in central Israel be regarded as a “mega terror attack.”
“We must not focus on the outcome but on the intent,” Gantz, a member of the opposition, stated in a comment. “We cannot repeat the mistake made in the foiled attack in Megiddo,” he added, referencing a March 2023 car bombing attempt in northern Israel, carried out by a Hezbollah operative who crossed into Israel from Lebanon. The attack was not met with an Israeli response at the time.
“The attempt to kill dozens of Israelis on such a difficult day demands not only immediate tactical actions but also the targeting of those who planned and financed the attack, as well as a strong, forceful response against the terrorists’ strongholds,” Gantz emphasized.
“A heavy price must be exacted — one that terrorist organizations will not forget.”
