Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison is increasing charges against former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin to second-degree murder in George Floyd’s death and also charging the other three officers involved in the incident.

“This is another important step for justice,” Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar tweeted on her verified account.

Benjamin Crump, the attorney for George Floyd’s family, tweeted that Officer Derek Chauvin will be charged with second-degree murder and Officers Thomas Lane, J.A. Keung, and Tou Thao will be charged as well.

“This is a bittersweet moment. We are deeply gratified Attorney General Ellison took decisive action, arresting and charging ALL the officers involved in George Floyd’s death and upgrading the charge against Derek Chauvin to felony second-degree murder,” said Crump who spoke on behalf of the Floyd family.

  1. Why not charge him with first degree murder, treason, and grand theft auto while they’re at it?

While what P.O. Chauvin did was reckless enough that (IMO) a third-degree murder charge was well-warranted, a second degree murder charge (which means he deliberately and intentionally murdered Floyd) is a ridiculous overreach.

    • “a second degree murder charge (which means he deliberately and intentionally murdered Floyd) is a ridiculous overreach”. When you are chosen for the jury and hear all the evidence then you can reach that conclusion.

  2. Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison………………He is the former head of the national DemocRAT Party and was a US Congressman, the first Mooslim member of congress. His son Jeremiah Ellison declared ‘support for ANTIFA’ as dad Keith Ellison takes over George Floyd case. Why don’t we just give the keys to the jails to the criminals?

  3. So he’ll go from a lifetime sentence to a ……………..lifetime sentence. Big upgrade. Am I missing something?
