On Sunday evening, Hamas once again turned down a proposed deal for the release of hostages that was put forward to them.

Osama Hamdan, a senior figure within Hamas, spoke to the Al-Aqsa Channel, stating, “Israel has set new conditions for accepting the agreement and reverted from what it had previously agreed to. Today the delegation informed the mediators of our position. We will not accept any withdrawals from what we agreed to on July 2 or any new demands.”

He further commented that “the US administration is sowing false hopes by talking about an agreement that is close, while this is only for election purposes.”

Al-Araby Al-Jadeed, a Qatari news outlet, reported this evening that mediators have attempted to negotiate a temporary humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza, lasting between four and seven days.

    • I know this sounds insensitive but even if there are hostages who are still alive, that doesn’t justify calling off the war and allowing Hamas to rebuild and ultimately murder more Jews. All of the Israeli soldiers who died fighting in Gaza will have died in vain if Hamas is allowed to remain in power.
